Petra Füreder 

Petra Füreder is a researcher at the Department of Geoinformatics (PLUS) since 2008, where she has been working in a range of national and international projects in the field of humanitarian relief, environmental monitoring and emergency response. She has been involved in establishing an Earth observation-based information service for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF, Doctors without Borders), and was the main person in charge of providing timely and reliable information of refugee/IDP camps, mainly concerning population estimation, over several years. This strengthened her research interests in not only optimizing automated image classification methods, but also in communicating complex information content exploring appropriate geovisualisation techniques.
